Linux pre-installed laptop
Yesterday I received my first laptop which had Ubuntu pre-installed. It is a Dell XPS 13 developer edition (7390).
The idea is to replace the large workstation under the desk with this system to be more flexible at the workplace.
It was a really nice first impression to see most of it working as expected, but it took some time to figure out how the enable full system encryption. Also support for the DisplayLink (D6000) docking station was not present out of the box. I had to download the driver (v5.2.14) from the DisplayLink website. Installing the driver (kernel module) was easy. Just unpacked the zip and ran the shell script.
In a few days I will post an update about my experiences.
