Add ixquick to Firefox location bar
A few years have past since I discovered ixquick. As a happy user I use it for all my online searches. I’m using it in combination with my favorite browser and have added it to the browser default search engine. This browser, Firefox, allows me to enter keywords to search in the location (URL) bar, which are automatically passed to Google instead of ixquick. Since I have to change the setting every now and then I created this post to remember.
Do the following:
- In the location bar, type about:config and hit Enter.
- In the filter at the top, type: keyword.URL
- Double click it and remove whatever’s in there and replace it with ‘https://ixquick.com/do/metasearch.pl?cat=web&query=’.
Happy safe searching!
